Plot Overview

The story follows Krishnamoorthy, also known as Kissa 47 (played by Santhanam), who is a film critic famous for giving harsh reviews. One day, he finds himself trapped inside a horror film, created by the spirit of an angry director using a magical diary.

To survive and escape, he has to face scary events, creepy ghosts, and comedy scenes, all while solving the mystery inside the haunted movie world. The movie tries to mix horror with humor, using a unique concept that plays on movie tropes.

Cast Performances

Santhanam, known for his comedy, tries to carry the movie as the lead. But this time, his performance feels a bit dull and not as funny as his earlier roles.

Geethika Tiwary plays a double role (Aasai Harshini and Jessica), but her characters are not well-written, giving her little chance to shine. Selvaraghavan and Gautham Vasudev Menon appear in supporting roles, but they don’t have a strong impact on the story.

Direction and Screenplay

S. Prem Anand, the director, tries to do something new with a meta-horror comedy, but the movie ends up confusing. The idea of a film critic stuck inside a movie could have been smart and funny, but the screenplay is messy and the story jumps around too much.

The mix of horror and comedy doesn’t blend well, making it hard for the audience to stay engaged.

Critical Reception

The film has mostly received negative reviews from critics:

  • It was rated 2 out of 5 by some major sites for poor writing and weak comedy.
  • Critics said the movie has too many awkward silences where jokes were supposed to be.
  • Many felt the film used outdated jokes like fart humor and missed the chance to create something meaningful.
  • Reviewers also noted the lack of good horror and below-average direction.

Audience Response

The audience reaction is mixed. Some viewers liked the new idea of mixing horror and film criticism, while many others said it was boring and confusing.

On popular movie ticketing platforms, the film has a rating of around 7 out of 10, showing that some fans still supported the movie because of Santhanam and the Dhilluku Dhuddu brand.

Controversy

The film had a controversy over a song called Perumal song, which upset some people for religious reasons. Santhanam responded by saying the song was meant to be funny, not offensive, and asked people not to misunderstand it.

Conclusion

Devil’s Double Next Level tries to do something different with a horror-comedy concept and a meta twist, but the execution fails. The film has weak writing, unfunny scenes, and a confused storyline.

It may still be enjoyed by Santhanam fans or those looking for a light timepass, but overall, it doesn’t deliver a solid movie experience. If you’re expecting clever comedy or genuine scares, this one might not be for you.
