The Story
At its heart, Dragon follows Ragavan “Dragon” Dhanapal, a once-promising student whose life spirals out of control after a heartbreak. Struggling with failures and societal pressure, he finds himself entangled in financial fraud, leading to a dangerous journey of deception and self-realization. The first half is filled with college fun, pranks, and youthful misadventures, but the real impact comes in the second half, where the protagonist faces the consequences of his reckless choices. A surprise cameo in the climax adds an extra thrill to the movie.
Performances
Pradeep Ranganathan delivers a stellar performance, showcasing his versatility in both comedic and emotional scenes. His portrayal of Ragavan is layered, bringing humor, vulnerability, and determination to the character.
Anupama Parameswaran plays Keerthi, the love interest who acts as a catalyst for Ragavan’s transformation. While she doesn’t have as much screen time, her role is impactful. Kayadu Lohar, making her Tamil debut, shines as Pallavi, adding emotional depth and chemistry to the narrative.
The supporting cast also delivers. KS Ravikumar as Parasuram, the strict yet wise mentor, is memorable. Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mysskin make brief but powerful appearances, while YouTubers VJ Siddhu and Harshath Khan provide comic relief without being over-the-top.
Direction & Execution
Director Ashwath Marimuthu, known for Oh My Kadavule, balances humor and drama with finesse. While the first half is lighthearted, with college-life clichés, the film shifts gears post-interval, making the latter half more gripping. The screenplay keeps the audience engaged, and the film’s social message about hard work and integrity stands out.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, Dragon (2025) delivers a power-packed mix of entertainment, emotions, and action. Pradeep Ranganathan shines, and the direction by Ashwath Marimuthu ensures a memorable cinematic experience.
